About Me
Hello, I’m Dr. C
Licensed Therapist, Psy.D.
Pronouns: He/Him/They/Them
I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming and trauma-informed psychologist in Phoenix, AZ. I primarily use Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) as my approach to therapy and integrate approaches that work best for you. ACT focuses on connection to your personal values and your relationship to your thoughts and feelings. The goal is to develop a flexible and accepting approach to life’s ups and downs so that you can focus on what is most important to you. I also believe in the importance of healing within relationships and community. I view a lot of individual therapy as building skills to better navigate relationships outside of therapy and build your support network. Finally, I believe that the political is personal and that political and social climates fully impact mental health. I support a free Palestine, queer liberation, and racial and ethnic equity.
My Approach & Values
I use an approach called Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). This approach helps you identify your values and ways in which you can set and achieve goals based on those values. The approach also uses mindfulness skills to help you with uncomfortable experiences and avoidance. I also believe that healing occurs in relationships and community. I believe that individual therapy can be a steppingstone to building other supports in you life. In therapy, you will build skills that can help connect you to the important people in your life.
I value community support, liberation, and the safety to be your authentic self. It is my role as the therapist to make sure that you feel safe enough in session to be authentic without judgment.
